Why should you care?
Asthma is extremely severe. About 1 out of 12 adults and 1 out of 10 children in the US has asthma. Everyday, experts are constantly finding a cure to asthma. It is also very possible to pass down asthma to your children if you are a victim of the disease. Because asthma can be contracted both genetically and environmentally, more people will get asthma as time passes by. Asthma is extremely difficult to live with. Imagine living and struggling to breath everyday, with risk of an attack from the disorder anytime, including death.
Along with that, asthma expenses are extremely high. Thousands of dollars are spent per person just to maintain the disease, not even to cure it. If asthma didn't cost so much to deal with, all that money could be used for something else. All that money could go to education, treating other diseases, build roads, etc.
When still a child, the immune system still continues to develop. Since asthma is very likely to be developed when young, it is a huge problem. If a developing immune system comes in contact with a viral infection or allergen, a problem is proposed. Children who have poor immune function tend to have increased risk for developing allergies and asthma-related problems in the future.
