Conducting our own Investigation
To identify whether the asthma statistics at our school is somewhat relative to the rest of the country, we conducted a survey at our own school.
In a survey that was taken about asthma, forty random students at Kearny High School San Diego California , were asked to answer 3 different asthma related questions. The questions asked were:
Question 1: Has a doctor ever told you that you have asthma?
Question 2: During the last 12 months, have you ever had an episode of asthma or an asthma attack?
Question 3: Do you still have asthma?
From our survey, we found that about about 20% of the people that we surveyed, had asthma compared to only the estimated 8% across the U.S. In our opinion, we found that this was an interesting discovery. Possible factors for this could be the air quality of the area that the individual lives in and/or possible genetic factors.
